Miguel Pérez

He was born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on December 15th 1943.

From his early childhood cinema became the most exciting experience of his life. In 1964 and as a result of the lack of professional film schools in his hometown he started studying edition with Antonio Ripoll, who was considered the best Argentinian editor at the time. During the following years he mastered expertise in editing and studied different disciplines he considered necessary for his artistic and professional development.

Since then he has edited more than 50 feature films, fiction and documentaries; 40 artistic and educational short films and over 600 publicities.

From 1982 to 1985 he directed and edited the award winning documentary The Lost Republic (Parts I & II).

From 1990 he increased his teaching experience and nowadays he is Chair of Film Editing and Dramatic Structure Professor at the Film and TV School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba; Professor and Film Edition Department Coordinator at ENERC (National School of Film Experimentation and Production of Argentina) -INCAA (National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts); Chair of Film Editing at UNA (National University of Arts); Coordinator and Professor of Film Editing and Dramatic Structure at UCINE (University of Cinema).

Simultaneously he teaches private courses on this professional areas and gives masterclasses and seminars in different national and international institutions.

In 2015 he was granted the CILECT Teaching Award, distinguishing Mr. Pérez as one of the three best film teachers in the world.
